Agreement for the sale of a cat or kitten (Guidance Notes)

This agreement sets out the terms and conditions of sale for a cat or kitten and requires the signatures of both the seller and buyer to be witnessed by an independent adult.

The seller confirms details of the cat’s health, vaccination history and eligibility for the UK Pet Passport scheme; the buyer promises to care for the cat and to obtain a similar promise from any future owner.

It is suitable for the sale and purchase of a new kitten from a breeder or dealer as a family pet, or the sale and purchase of a kitten or a grown cat from a private owner. It is not suitable where the cat or kitten is being sold for commercial purposes, e.g. breeding.

This document is suitable for use in the United Kingdom.

Agreement for the sale of a dog or puppy (Guidance Notes)

Use this document to create an agreement for the private sale of a dog or puppy. It can be used for the sale of a new puppy from a breeder or dealer, or the sale of a puppy or a grown dog from a private owner.

It is suitable where the purchase price is received in full by a single payment, but not by instalments or where the dog is subject to a loan or charge against it. It can't be used if the dog is being sold for commercial purposes (such as for breeding or racing).

It includes confirmation by the seller of the dog's health, vaccination history and eligibility for the UK Pet Travel scheme. The buyer promises to care for the dog and to get a similar promise from any future owner.

This document is suitable for use in the UK.

Agreement for the sale of a horse or pony (Guidance Notes)

To use this agreement, the horse or pony must have a passport, unless it is exempt from doing so under legislation. This agreement is suitable where the purchase price is received in full by a single payment and not by instalments and the horse or pony is not subject to a loan or charge against it.

There are options to list any health or behavioural issues that the animal might have, or to confirm that the buyer is purchasing the horse or pony 'as seen'. There is also the option of a trial period.

It is not suitable for the sale of horses or ponies that are to be used for racing or breeding. This agreement is suitable for use in the UK.
